- Welcome to Sainte-Edwidge -
In small towns across Québec, many small projects go unfinished because of lack of funding and resources. P’tit Québec saw this as an opportunity to help. “P’tits projets pas si P’tits” is an initiative which envisions empowering communities one stop at a time. The small tasks we complete give the community better spaces to come together, making for a big impact.
2023: Sainte-Edwidge
In 2023, the P’tit Quebec team travelled to the small town of Sainte-Edwidge, located within Coaticook Regional County (population: 484) for the third annual P’tits Projets pas si P’tits. Just like the previous projects, this year we were determined to make a meaningful impact for the community and its residents. Here is the impact we made:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
- Created a functional outdoor learning centre with new whiteboards, dry erase markers and other classroom supplies
- Refreshed the school’s outdoor space with a new basketball court, a bike rack and a ‘take one leave one’ library box
POOL HOUSE
- Painted the pool house, an important community gathering space used during the summer months
- Installed hooks for hanging towels and personal belongings
- Added storage boxes full of new pool toys and floaties
RESTAURANT
- Made improvements to the only restaurant in town that serves as the heart of the community by:
- Installing signage that the restaurant lacked funding for
- Painting and installing more seating for guests
- Partnering up to host a big community gathering, serving residents with delicious P’tit Quebec cheese
COMMUNITY WALKING PATH
- Installed lights as an added safety measure for a highly trafficked walking path
- Built an archway to mark the path’s slightly hidden entrance
- Added a bench and a dog waste station
DONATIONS
- Allocated a total of $50,000 towards community building initiatives, including:
- $5000 donation to Café Du Village, a cafe offering free coffee for seniors
- $5000 donation to St-Edwidge Elementary School for school supplies and upgrades
